Dear Friends,
March 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of St. John’s Bread and Life! Over the past 40 years, we have served an estimated 20 million meals to our neighbors in need across Brooklyn and Queens. We are thankful for the wisdom and foresight of the Daughters of Charity, the Vincentians, and the parishioners of St. John the Baptist — the women and men who set Bread & Life on the course to become one of the largest emergency food providers in New York City.
Our founders demonstrate the importance of simple acts of kindness, whether it be sharing a meal or a merciful presence. They call us to walk with one another through struggles, ensuring no one gets left behind. They remind us to share what we have in a spirit of goodwill, and, above all, to care for one another.
This Lent, in honor of the founders of Bread & Life, I am pledging $40 for 40 meals in honor of our 40th anniversary. Will you join me? Donating just 1 meal will help make a big difference to someone in need.
As we move through Lent, let’s remember that one simple act of kindness can make all the difference in the world.
